Friend, my young friends,
Come here and inscribe this place with your name.
Four kilometers from north and south, this campus is an ark.
Its destination is the future, wide open, alive as we make it.
How many friends from so many lands have boarded this ark.
Though the texts they chose to guide them have differed,
Though some strove to be artists and other athletes,
Each day spent here, under the same sky,
Has been precious, irreplaceable time.
The bustle of the city is distant, but people are close.
Nature’s cycle of seasons is not all fair breezes.
When cold north winds blow, seek the warmth of friends.
With these friends living so close by,
The future we make will be the future we talk about, together,
Be it talk about outer space or talk of literature.
Friends, let us go forward together on this ark,
With all the imagination we may have, in all its variety.
To believe in the future is to believe in people.
Don’t fear future, as long as it is made for the future of our planet.
Come to this palace and open your imagination,
On the glass of this campus, in its classroom and library,
On the table of the cafeteria, and under this sky.
